Orthopedic Massage Therapy
FAQs
1
What is Orthopedic Massage Therapy?
Orthopedic Massage Therapy (OMT) is a specialized, hands-on approach that focuses on the treatment and prevention of musculoskeletal pain, injury, and movement dysfunction. It combines deep tissue massage, fascial release, joint mobilization, and assisted stretching to relieve tension, restore balance, and improve mobility.

Unlike general massage, OMT is highly specific and assessment-driven, addressing both the symptoms and the underlying causes of dysfunction, making it ideal for chronic pain, injury rehabilitation, and performance enhancement.

Our Unique Approach
Fascial & Meridian-Based Techniques

We integrate Eastern and Western approaches by incorporating both fascial release techniques and meridian theory into your treatment. This allows us to address not just muscles and joints, but the energetic and connective tissue systems that influence whole-body function.

Targeted Muscle Manipulation & Stretching

OMT uses advanced techniques to lengthen tight muscles, activate weak or inhibited ones, and re-educate movement patterns. We apply assisted stretching, trigger point therapy, and mobilization techniques to restore freedom of motion and relieve stress on joints.

Structural Rebalancing for Posture & Function

We assess your body’s alignment, gait, and muscle imbalances to create a personalized treatment plan. By restoring balance between shortened and overstretched muscles, we reduce compensatory patterns and support efficient, pain-free movement.

5
Is Orthopedic Massage painful?
While some techniques can create mild discomfort—especially when working with trigger points or deep tension—we always prioritize your comfort and communicate throughout the session. Most clients describe the experience as “intense but relieving.”
6
Will I feel sore afterwards?
Some post-treatment soreness is normal, similar to the feeling after a good workout. This usually subsides within 24–48 hours and can be eased with hydration, rest, or light movement.
7
What should I wear to my appointment?
Wear loose, comfortable clothing. You may be asked to undress to your comfort level, and you’ll always be draped appropriately. For sessions with more active stretching, athletic wear is recommended.
8
Should I eat before my appointment?
A light meal or snack beforehand is ideal. Avoid heavy meals right before your session.
9
What to expect after treatment?
Many clients feel immediate relief, improved mobility, and a deeper sense of body awareness after a session.
You may also experience:
· Reduction in pain or muscle stiffness
· Easier, more fluid movement
· Improved posture and breathing
· General relaxation & reduced stress

For best results, we often recommend a series of sessions, especially for chronic or complex issues. Your therapist will help you determine the best treatment plan for your goals.
